CDPAP has been helping a huge number of families since its introduction here in New York and from CDPAP Brooklyn to the rest of the 4 boroughs, we have seen a huge benefit to the health of thousands of users of this wonderful service. Not everyone knows about CDPAP and how it can help so today we are going to look further into what this service is, how it came about and how you can use the service if you wish. Without further ado, let’s try and answer some of your FAQs about CDPAP.
What is it?
CDPAP is the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance program which allows clients to recruit, manage and hire their own care workers. The program actually includes being able to hire your own friends and families as care workers which can help both the consumer to feel more comfortable and for the friend or family member to earn from the care which they give.
What are the Requirements?
In order for you to be eligible for CDPAP you must be on Medicaid, be in need of daily assistance in and around the house, you must also have a medical condition which is considered as stable and finally you must be sound of mind in order to direct your own care, or have a designated person who can make this decision on your behalf.
Caregiver Requirements?
In order to be a care giver under CDPAP you must be at least 18 years of age and you mustn’t be the spouse of the person to whom you are giving care. As we mentioned before you can be a family member of the person who needs care. The caregiver will receive a full medical exam and they of course must be legal to work in the USA.
What Benefits?
The benefits of this service is that the person in need of care can get the care thatchy require, yet they are able to do so off their own back. The fact that the patient is also the manager of the care means that the consumer is able to get the care that they want, rather than the care that they are given.
What Services?
The services which the caregiver provides will wildly vary based on the level of the care that the consumer requires. Caregivers could be required to help with bathing, toileting and dressing of the patient and they could also be required to go shopping, chauffeur the patient and housekeeping responsibilities as well. The demands will be down to the wishes and the condition of the person who needs the care.
Who Pays?
Medicaid foots the bill for this service and Care Connection Home Care LLC is what we call the fiscal intermediary. The care of the patient and the services which are offered by CDPAP will always be covered by Medicaid.
