Here are some things to do and see on your submersion trip to Bandung.
Travel by Train
What better way to start your trip to Bandung than a train ride? By taking the train to reach your Bandung destination you will get to relax and enjoy the naturally beautiful landscapes, and scenery that encompasses the city. Take the time to meet commuting locals, and plan out your trip activities from one of the travel guide books available or through suggestions from other train passengers that you meet.
Climb Gunung Tangkuban Perahu Volcano
If Gunung Tangkuban Perahu is a little too complicated for you to say, you can simply call it “the Mountain of the Overturned Boat”; its other name. This active volcano sits 30 km north of Bandung and has erupted 16 times in recorded history since 1826 with the last eruption being in 2013. You can take a stroll along the edge of the crater and feel the adrenaline rush as you remember that the last eruption was only a few years ago.
Hot Springs
While you are visiting the “Mountain of the Overturned Boat”, don’t forget to stop and enjoy the hot springs. Guides will escort you in and out of the hot springs for your own safety. These hot springs are so hot that local guides boil eggs in them and you can try one for yourself. If you’re looking for more of a relaxation hot springs experience, you can always visit the resort that has ponds for swimming and soaking in the hot water. Heads up though, on the weekends this place gets very busy.
Nightlife
Bandung has a very active nightlife scene filled with dance clubs, jazz clubs, and cafes to keep you as active in your evenings as you are during the day. Try starting your night out with a deliciously authentic meal at one of the local restaurants, and then taking an evening stroll to one of the relaxing yet upbeat Jazz performances at one of the nearby bars or hotels in Bandung such as the Hyatt Regency Bandung.
Besides the off the beaten path activities mentioned above, Bandung also has a thriving community of museums, shops, and most other activities and businesses that you would find in any other busy city.
