Planning a summer getaway

in Travel Tips on 12/03/18

The summer’s coming, and you know what that means – time off, holidays and fun! What are you planning to do this year? Will you go back to your favorite retreat? Or will you try something new this time? Will you travel or stay at home? There are a variety of different options out there, and with lots of transport connections, making a decision is tough. Of course, it depends on whether you’re planning time on your own, with your partner, friends or your family – and all the different tastes that go with that. Below are some of the hottest summer vacation getaway ideas to get you thinking.

Planning a family trip

If you have young kids, they’re going to be a big determining factor in the kind of vacation that you’re planning. Gone are the days when you could just lie by the pool or ocean and be quiet for several hours. Your children are likely to want lots of entertainment and activities, to keep them busy.

So, when you’re hunting for the perfect getaway, think about the location you’re choosing – is there lots for the kids to do? With regards to the hotel or other accommodation, does it lay on activities? Is it child-friendly? How about booking an adventure holiday, where you have lots of outdoor activities laid on? It can be fun for the big kids too!

You’ll also want to look at potential costs. How much is the whole thing going to cost, and will there be any extra costs while you’re away? If you plan in advance, you might be able to land some child discounts. Shop around, look online and bag yourself a bargain!

Go on a road adventure

Ever dreamed of enjoying a long road trip? It’s something many people think about but never get around to doing. However, if you have a few weeks spare over the summer, then why not plan yourself one? You could drive from one side of a country to another or follow a set route – taking in some key towns and cities. If you’re stuck on ideas, then check out some well-trodden road trip maps online or buy yourself a guidebook.

If you head off on a long trip, then you need to make sure your car is up to it. You’re going to be racking up the kilometers, and you need reliability. Make sure you have all your motoring documents in place. If you have any accidents while you’re on the road, check out companies like abogados de accidentes, who can provide specialist support.

Go on a city break

A summer vacation certainly doesn’t mean that you have to hit the coast! There are lots of city break options to choose from too. Is there a place you’ve always wanted to go? It could be close to home or a flight across the ocean. A short break of around five days could be just the summer tonic that you’re looking for, and you can find packages of flights and hotels online. Have a good look at city guides and see if there’s something for everyone in your group.
