I have been working recently with some groups who are investors in the future of young people and through my work with the SEC and the APFC, I have encountered a great many young people with huge dreams. One of the most common ambitions of young students is to one day become a president or director of a business, or even a CEO like Larry Polhill Cafe Valley chief. Naturally it is tough to give securities to these young men and women that they can achieve this but I am never one to cut dreams and I always try to encourage them to realize theirs. If you are prepared to exchange your youth for hard work and commitment to one day become a CEO then you deserve all of the success that you can find and here are the skills which you will need.
Results Driven
In order to get to the position of CEO you must have an outstanding track record of results and be able to show this throughout your career, and when you get to the top. CEOs are selected based on how hard they work and how much they have given to a particular company by way of results. If you are able to focus hard on your results and delivery frequently, you could put yourself in the frame for a position like this.
Swagger
As a prospective CEO you need to already be walking the walk and showing that you are more than good enough to take on a role such as this. You must be able to show this self-confidence from the moment that you walk in the door if you want people to stand up and notice you and you need to use your swagger to impress those around you. If you are going to act like this then you will also need the results to back it up.
Team Player
Whether you are leading a team or playing a different role within it, you must be able to put your ego aside and focus on the team unit. If you are able to play your part in a team setting, you could make yourself stand out and be considered for such a coveted role.
Vision For The Future
CEOs are always looking forward for opportunities which may present themselves and for potential problems which may exist further down the road. If you want to one day become a successful business leader, you must be able to show this forward thinking nature.
Interpersonal Skills
If you have any hope of becoming a leader in business then you must be a likable person that can get on with a range of different people. Without this likability you will never be able to get to the top as you will always need someone further up the ladder to help pull you up. Be likable to many and you stand a much better chance of landing this kind of role.
