#hairtalk by Jen Atkin

We asked our friend and uber-talented hair stylist to the stars, Jen Atkin {a few of her superstar clients are Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba & Sophia Vergara}, what trends she is loving for Spring right now and here's what she said:

I've been loving hair accessories recently. I love anything from Jennifer BehrHouse of Harlow or Untamed Petals. Their pieces are classic and can dress up any look, casual or formal. If any of my clients are attending a formal event, when using an accessory for hair, I think having hair up is key to keeping the look formal. A modern chignon or a bun are great ways to to wear a formal look with a hairpiece. If your look is more casual, I think having the hair down is a great way to wear a hair accessory; you can always go sleek and straight, or something textured and wavy.

What are some of your favorite hair trends for Spring? Don't forget to check out Jen's blog Coiffed Queens or make an appointment to see her at the Andy LeCompte Salon in West Hollywood! t. 310-273-4100

What I love most about fashion is the interpretation of clothing from a designer's perspective. When I first found this skirt, its asymmetric hem, architectural lines and overall draping construction of the garment screamed original and unique. Since most items in my closet are traditionally "safe" {at least I would presume}, this was one playful skirt that I was excited to wear. Not to mention my love and respect for Helmut Lang grew immensely. Dress it up with heels or booties, or down with some lace-up motorcycle boots. In the end, just have fun with your style.

There has always been something about whimsical and feminine silhouettes that has always tugged on my heart strings. With Valentine's Day so near, the allure of spring and romance is all around us.  For a designer, these are opportune moments to create various mood boards for upcoming collections.  Mood boards for fashion designer's commence the creativity process which set the framework for our color palette, brings our sketches to life, and ultimately sets the foundation of that new collection. So while reeling for inspiration, these are some of the photos which got my designs and imagination flowing. xx.

Style Inspo Friday

I watched a French romantic comedy with subtitles on Netflix the other night called Heartbreaker (L'arnacoeur) with Vanessa Paradis.  I'll be the first to admit, mayyybeee it was a bit cheesy, but the ending was cute and sappy and right up my alley. Vanessa Paradis on the other hand... in. love. with. her. style.  Oh, the French girl flair.  The feminine grace and completely effortless look is just bananas.  Let's take a look at some Paris street fashions for some style inspo Friday.  Hope you have a great weekend. xx.
