Sarine Marie

{ Sarine Marie Fall/Winter 12-13 Collection preview, LA Fashion Week}
I recently paired up with LA based designer Sarine Beberian, the face behind the  contemporary women's label, Sarine Marie and had the privilege of being selected to showcase her beautiful work.  Supporting emerging designers is something we love to do here on VV, especially when the collections speak volumes on their own merit through each detailed ensemble. It's no easy task to mix romance with edge and still keep the fabrics light enough to celebrate a women's silhouette. Laser cut leather, silk chiffon, lace and wool gabardine, these are just some of the luxury fabrics she uses to showcase her lady-like designs. Recently Sarine Marie was one of 12 emerging designers at the MAGIC show in Las Vegas.  The LA Fashion Council highlighted 11 pieces in a private runway show previewing her upcoming collections, not to mention the countless write-ups on her line by Apparel News, Women's Wear Daily, Lucky Magazine, MSN Living and more.  Check out more of her beautiful collection here.

{A closer shot of the two pieces I selected: Black leather high-waisted shorts & A stunning burgundy silk chiffon dress}

There has always been something about whimsical and feminine silhouettes that has always tugged on my heart strings. With Valentine's Day so near, the allure of spring and romance is all around us.  For a designer, these are opportune moments to create various mood boards for upcoming collections.  Mood boards for fashion designer's commence the creativity process which set the framework for our color palette, brings our sketches to life, and ultimately sets the foundation of that new collection. So while reeling for inspiration, these are some of the photos which got my designs and imagination flowing. xx.

{ Dior sunnies; Tildon Blouse; AG Adriano Goldschmied Jeans; Valentino T-strap pumps; Stella McCartney Falabella Bucket Bag;  Necklace Nordstroms (old); J.crew Chain and Leopard Bracelets; Nails, Butter London Teddy Girl; Lips, J.Crew Chili Flake}
I've mentioned my love affair for studs quite often on my blog, but when I met this pair of Valentinos it was love at first sight. Best part, they are probably the most comfortable pair of shoes I own that can be dressed up {seen here on New Year's Eve} or dressed down with some ripped jeans, a simple blouse and gold accessories. It was quite apropos for Super Bowl Sunday.

Style Inspo Friday

I watched a French romantic comedy with subtitles on Netflix the other night called Heartbreaker (L'arnacoeur) with Vanessa Paradis.  I'll be the first to admit, mayyybeee it was a bit cheesy, but the ending was cute and sappy and right up my alley. Vanessa Paradis on the other hand... in. love. with. her. style.  Oh, the French girl flair.  The feminine grace and completely effortless look is just bananas.  Let's take a look at some Paris street fashions for some style inspo Friday.  Hope you have a great weekend. xx.

Thanksgiving dinner is always spent with my family and luckily, is super casual. This year it was a beautiful, sunny yet crisp California day.  The perfect weather combination for my favorite corduroy pants and faux fur vest for our festive get together! I love the color palettes that remind me of fall/winter: rich browns, deep greens, oxblood and very earthy tones.
What are you most excited for this fall/winter?

Giving thanks in style

Whether your family is formal or laid back, it's always nice to dress up a bit to see the fam-bam. Here are some outfits we thought would be gobble-gobble appropriate.

What are you wearing on Thanksgiving?

Investment Pieces

Since we like to think of ourselves as savvy yet somewhat compulsive shoppers, we are always on the hunt for new trends and deals.  However, the older we get, the more refined our styles have gotten, the less fussy our wardrobe has become. We love to identify with the mantra of, quality over quantity. We will be the first to admit that years ago, our wardrobes were bursting with low quality trendy items that would be worn few times and later donated to Goodwill.  Talk about a total waste of money!  Thankfully, we grew out of that phase.  To help edit and re-define your wardrobe with classic and timeless clothing, here are our picks for staple "investment pieces" that literally will never ever go out of style.  {You can take that to the bank}!! Think about it, the more you save and refuse to spend on frivolous items, the more you'll be able to splurge on these timeless classics when the time is right. xx.

Haute Halloween

{Jeweled Kate Moss}
The past few years I've skipped out on most Halloween antics and opted for a quite night in with the husband, passing out candy to... {does any child trick or treat these days?} with a good quality scary movie {not horror} like, What Lies Beneath and Sixth Sense, to name a few.  This year will most likely be the same, considering Halloween falls on a Wednesday.  But, we have invited some friends over and I'm excited to enjoy the night with good friends, good wine, good festive food {will show you snippets on Thursday} and most of all, I'm thrilled to pretend like I am not in a 6 week boot camp program, just for one night!  Dressing up is encouraged, of course! Here are some haute ideas that are inspiring me to get all dolled up for the night!  What did you or will you dress up as this year?
